http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoBPfPnq8nQ This is a great example of unnecessary interventions. These women seem to be trying to dig the baby out. They are pulling the babies head, pushing on the mom’s stomach. It is nightmarish. Wow. Notice how the poor infant is poked and prodded and slapped. Now go watch a natural birth video right now.
This video was removed by Youtube and I want to cry. It was an incredible example of how fast and painless childbirth can be in the absence of interventions. I want to drop an apple on every OB-GYNs head (and many midwives) because clearly they never learned about a little something called gravity in medical [...]
This is a nice video by Laura Shanley who wrote the book “Unassisted Childbirth” and runs the site www.unassistedchildbirth.com. The concept of not using a doctor or midwife at all makes so much sense when you come to terms with the fact that a woman’s body already knows how to give birth and will do [...]
Childbirth is a life changing event which can be both exhilarating and draining, the greatest experience of one’s life or the worst. Childbirth carries tremendous dogma, old wives tales, traditions, and controversy. Adults have their own rhyme and reason for birth choices. Doctors and midwives make choices for convenience, scheduling, to avoid lawsuits or for [...]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xath6kOf0NE&feature=player_embedded Notice how the supine birthing position (on the back) aims the babies head at the poor mother’s tail bone. Tail bones are often broken by unnatural forced pushing while in this ridiculous position. Always remember that other than standing on your head, the supine position is the worst position for the mother and baby. [...]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkDdcZZloEM&feature=player_embedded Although this is not a particularly traumatic hospital birth, any time a woman is on her back, she is positioning for the benefit of the hospital staff, not her baby or herself. Delivering a baby on your back (supine) is always the worst position for childbirth (other than standing on your head).
A recent article in Psychology Today looked at how a couple’s sexual relationship is affected following childbirth. Like many articles before it, it primarily examined in the difference in attitudes following cesarean births vs vaginal births and the main focus seemed to be on the pelvic floor. On the outside, it seems to be another [...]
A new study by researchers at Stanford and Santa Clara Medical Center concluded that women who receive antibiotic injections after bad tears or episiotomies have a better outcome with fewer infections. That is unfortunate since many, if not almost all tears are caused by unnatural birth positions, drugs to induce labor and forced pushing. In [...]
It never ceases to amaze me that pregnant women in the United States continue to believe that they have access to the “best birthing and obstetric care in the world”. What rubbish! The amazing part is not that people have been brainwashed since birth to believe that practitioners in the US Healthcare system are nothing [...]
I don’t normally care for childbirth videos that are taken from between mom’s legs while she is lying down. For one thing, it cements the idea in the viewer’s head that this is an appropriate position for childbirth, when it is actually the worst. Secondly, it is normally demeaning, degrading and objectifying to women as [...]
